And what was
it all for
if not for forever
i never
thought we’d
really close that door
end the story
close the book
and say it’s over

But maybe
you could not
see the love
i found for you
and sought to give
just the truth that you hid
and the honest parts
of you
you could not hide

to ache and wonder
was this just a brief encounter
not the future that I saw
not the man I knew at all
discarded me
like boxes of old things
