I am thankful for the hours spent running around the hospital or stuck behind a desk because it has shown me the value of life and I have met some real life self sacrificing heroes in the doctors I work with everyday and allows me to provide for my son.

I am thankful for the rush to get up and get going, breakfast and book bags and the car line I sit in every morning, the rush for pickup, home cooked meals and homework because it mean that I have my son.

But it doesn’t stop me from wishing I were dirty, sweaty and at peace, hiking some path to a waterfall deep in the mountains.

There is a necessary balance to this life. I am still working out the formula. Someday I’ll get it just right.
