The Blood & The Bones

there is always a day
when it comes to this
and so
the history of violence
paves a path
for men who quietly warned us
that they would rise up
and follow it’s calling
feet planted
within the steps
of the giants before them
knowing that the road to redemption
and it’s bloody intersection with evil
ultimately does not change
and even though
the face of the enemy does
obligation
right and wrong
and that patriotic desire
that goddamn fire
burning within them
to fight for freedom
never will
