I woke early that morning
Feeling summer’s long farewell and tasting crisp in the air
I stand in the doorway to take it all in on a quiet early autumn morning
As mother earth births the rising sun
that never fails us
and I am ever amazed in the reverie
of how green will become gold or red or orange
understanding that it knows not the end result
but that when it lets go and descends from it’s perch
it will soon be something different
and still without fear
it falls
the blood
& the bones
