Anyone can be a writer or a poet.
But you’re not going to feel everything everyone puts out and you’re not going to remember the stuff that was easily digested or produced for the masses.
Not everything will get inside you, disturb you or satiate you as great writing should.
It’s the writers who make you feel it in your gut, often like a solid punch you weren’t expecting, who are the true artists. And, more often than not, the ones that try too hard fail. When all you really need to do is rip yourself open and throw your insides down on the paper. Not caring if it’s pretty or if anyone will even like it. Just baring your fucking soul.
That’s the good shit.
Or at least it is to me.
That’s the stuff that will be remembered.
