you are more than the war you’ve seen
so much more than what you’ve endured

beyond the blood and guts shared and shed
bigger than the battles
fought and won
and the regrettable unforgettable ones lost

these tragedies survived and mountains climbed are components of who you have become
but they are not all that you are
you are still perseverance and bravery and good and I see that in you even when you cannot see it in yourself
