The Blood & The Bones

sans explanation.

I will not fault them
for their lack of understanding
this love confuses even me
and I am chest deep in it
but I refuse to waste my words
to defend or define
how we fell in without touch
how we wade through it together
how we have made our offerings
and thanked our Gods for this ocean
in hopes that they will avow
the lifelong sacrifices
and the depth of our devotion
allowing us to drown

the blood
& the bones

I never saw this coming. I have waited years for the kind of love I didn’t even know I wanted. It is unorthodox and neither of us had planned to fall the way we have. But I have earned this and so have you. We need not attempt to justify the journey to anyone for how could they ever understand?
