Today, I will not think of you

You’ve left and I felt the leaving

All at once but in slow motion

Yet, I stayed for quite some time

Hand reaching out hopeful

And even after time had passed

You could still deny what was

What I now see, will never be again

Your answers are shorter

Your light is dim

Or tucked away

Or given to another

We are now and forever no more

So, today I won’t think of you

I won’t force you to feel me
